Overview

Calculate and summarize dead and live loads for structural design per ASCE 7-22 §2.2. Free ASCE 7 load combination calculator. Gravity load summary feeds into beam, column, and foundation design.

Problem statement

A two-story wood-frame building has roof dead 15 psf, floor dead 12 psf, exterior wall 10 psf, roof live 20 psf, floor live 40 psf. Summarize loads for permit and design. ASCE 7-22 §2.2 ASD combinations govern. Load summary is required for calculation packages.

Workflow in StructSuite

StructSuite's free structural design software. Dead and Live Loads module: enter area and unit loads for each component (roof, floor, walls). Assign load types (D, L, Lr, S, W, E per ASCE 7). StructSuite computes total loads and presents combinations per ASCE 7-22 §2.2. Output feeds beam, column, shear wall, and foundation modules.
